Shift & Schedule
Position Type: Night Shift
Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Shift Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience; preference given to candidates with over 2 years and precepting experience
- Experience managing a patient ratio of 1:3
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
- Seasoned travel nurse with strong prior travel experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced (required), AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
- Medication administration expertise including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Labor and Delivery management skills such as circulating for C-section and performing sterile vaginal exams
- Comfort and experience with facility births averaging 200-300 births/month
- Competence in high-risk antepartum care, labor and delivery, and LDRP settings
- Adherence to isolation precautions and proper PPE protocol
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including maintenance of central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Antepartum care proficiency, particularly obstetrical triage
- Fetal monitoring skills including intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement and calibration
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients in labor and delivery settings
- Administer medications and therapies safely and effectively, including complex drips and high-risk medications
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation via Epic electronic medical records
- Monitor fetal and maternal condition using specialized monitoring equipment
- Assist and circulate during cesarean sections and perform sterile vaginal exams as required
- Manage central venous lines and ensure sterility and function for patient safety
- Adhere to infection control standards including appropriate use of isolation precautions and PPE
- Triage obstetrical patients efficiently to prioritize care based on clinical needs
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
- Support and mentor less experienced staff members, leveraging precepting experience
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California
- Valid certifications including ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, and NRP
- Proven experience in labor and delivery nursing with a strong clinical background in antepartum and intrapartum care
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Strong adaptability and resilience to thrive in a travel nursing role
- Proficient in use of Epic and electronic documentation systems
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $68.00 - $80.00
