Pay: $35.00–$45.00 per hour blended
Schedule: Full-Time | 12-Hour Shifts | Days, Nights & Mid-Shifts
Assignment: Federal Healthcare Contract
Duration: Initial 13-week assignment with long-term extension potential

Position Summary

Advantage Staffing Services is seeking experienced Emergency Medical Technicians (Basic EMTs) to support Emergency Medical Services for the Indian Health Service Pine Ridge Service Unit in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

This is an excellent opportunity for EMT professionals seeking a stable federal healthcare assignment with the potential for long-term placement.

The Pine Ridge EMS program provides pre-hospital emergency medical services and interfacility transportation throughout the Pine Ridge Reservation, Pine Ridge Hospital and surrounding service areas. The contract calls for up to eight full-time EMTs supporting continuous ambulance coverage.

Schedule

EMTs will generally work 12-hour shifts. Available shifts may include:

Day: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM or 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Night: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
Mid Shift: 11:00 AM–11:00 PM or 1:00 PM–1:00 AM

EMTs may also participate in scheduled on-call coverage based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

The EMT will:

Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls and provide Basic Life Support within the EMT scope of practice.

Assess patients and determine appropriate emergency treatment and transport.

Provide care to pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

Perform pre-hospital emergency care and interfacility medical transports.

Safely operate emergency and non-emergency patient transport vehicles.

Communicate with dispatch, emergency department personnel, physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Complete timely and accurate electronic and written patient-care documentation.

Inspect, restock and maintain ambulances, equipment and medical supplies.

Assist physicians and nursing staff with appropriate patient-care activities within EMT scope of practice.

Maintain compliance with IHS, South Dakota EMS and facility policies and procedures.

The PWS specifically includes emergency response, transport, vehicle operations, documentation, equipment maintenance, restocking and collaboration with hospital clinical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have:

At least 12 months of EMT/EMS experience, with preference for recent emergency response or ambulance experience.

Current National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification or qualifying REPLICA compact-state EMT certification.

Ability to obtain and maintain an unencumbered South Dakota EMT license/authorization prior to beginning the assignment.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Valid driver's license.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to successfully complete IHS credentialing, background investigation and security clearance requirements.

Health & Compliance Requirements

Selected EMTs must provide required employee-health documentation, including fitness-for-duty clearance, immunization records, TB screening and annual influenza vaccination.
