Title: Special Education CNA
Job Description: A SPED Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a classified employee who works under the supervision of a certified special education teacher and works collaboratively with the special education team to provide services as defined within the individual student's health care plan or Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
The CNA is responsible for using skills to care for students which could include but it not limited to: personal care (i. toileting, feeding, grooming, oral hygiene), activities of daily living, and other skills necessary for the student to access the school environment and make progress toward the mastery of individual IEP goals. CNAs may help students access the learning environment by assisting students with mobility limitations and by facilitating the students' learning as directed by the classroom teacher, building administrator, or Director of Student Services.
This position follows the school calendar and is an hourly position for the assigned school days. Starting rate for this position is $20.70
Criteria:
A. The applicant must be a licensed CNA or nurse.
B. Preference may be given to applicants with experience using Hoyer lifts, experience in a school setting/special education, or experience with the medically disabled.
C. Physical requirements may include:
Sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting while performing duties
Use of eyes, hands, and finger coordination to enable the use of equipment and writing utensils
Lifting/pushing/pulling or carrying up to 50 lbs,; may have to lift students when assistance is required; able to safely lift 50 lbs. each in a two person lift, and may be higher for some assignments depending on position and student need.
