Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing complex medical equipment such as ventilators and IV infusion systems.
Perform detailed patient assessments, interpret physiological data, and develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols.
Utilize advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless treatment transitions.
Execute specialized procedures such as airway management, suturing, catheterization, dialysis support, and ostomy care with precision and aseptic technique.
Respond swiftly to emergency situations using critical care response procedures; manage trauma cases from Level I or Level II trauma centers with expertise in trauma medicine.
Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatment options—including botulinum toxin treatments when applicable—and post-discharge care plans to promote recovery and well-being.
Requirements
Valid RN license with current registration; experience working in an ICU setting is essential.
Demonstrated proficiency in critical care environments with familiarity in ICU-specific procedures such as ventilator management, cardiac catheterization support, and infectious disease care.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and laboratory testing procedures.
Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and patient records management.
Ability to perform complex clinical tasks including IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration, tube feeding management, and aseptic technique adherence.
Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced hospital or emergency room environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality at all times; familiarity with infection control protocols is required.
