UW Medical Center-Northwest - Digestive Health Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) .

WORK SCHEDULE

Full time position, 4 clinical days per week

The clinic is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm

The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays

The clinic is located at our Outpatient Medical Center in North Seattle

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Digestive Health Clinic at the Outpatient Medical Center (OPMC) provides comprehensive outpatient consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and onsite endoscopic procedural care in an integrated clinic and endoscopy center. Our practice is designed to improve access to digestive health services through timely, high-quality, patient-centered care.

We evaluate and manage a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including abdominal pain, nausea, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), constipation, diarrhea, dysphagia, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other common digestive disorders. Patients also have access to onsite upper endoscopy and colonoscopy services, allowing for coordinated evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Join an independent, high-volume outpatient practice focused on general gastroenterology in an academic setting

Provide initial consultations, evaluations, and follow-up care for patients with a variety of general gastrointestinal conditions

Support timely patient access by providing efficient evaluation and management of new and established patients

Practice at the top of licensure while contributing to quality improvement and patient access initiatives

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary digestive health care team

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct comprehensive evaluations and consultations for patients with common gastrointestinal complaints, including abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, dysphagia, and gastrointestinal bleeding

Diagnose and manage general gastrointestinal conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, and functional gastrointestinal disorders

Perform pre-procedure evaluations to assess patient readiness and determine appropriate sedation or anesthesia requirements for endoscopic procedures

Interpret laboratory, pathology, imaging, and diagnostic test results to develop and adjust treatment plans

Document patient assessments, clinical findings, diagnoses, and plans of care in the electronic medical record

Collaborate closely with gastroenterologists and the procedural care team to coordinate endoscopic evaluations, optimize patient preparation, and ensure timely follow-up

Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive gastrointestinal health

Refer patients to appropriate specialists and ancillary services when clinically indicated

Coordinate care with referring providers, primary care clinicians, specialists, and ancillary services to ensure seamless continuity of care

Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care using sound clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and practice development activities that support excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and patient access

REQUIREMENTS

Current and valid Washington State ARNP licensure or Physician Assistant licensure

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or an accredited Physician Assistant Program

DEA prescriptive authority

BLS certification

Training in the assessment and diagnostic evaluation of digestive health patients

Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team environment
