Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – OR RN in Santa Rosa, CA

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Operating Room team. If you have a passion for delivering exceptional perioperative care in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute your expertise in a variety of surgical specialties, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 3 shifts per week (3x12 Hour shifts)

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Current proficiency with Epic charting system (required)
  • Trauma Level I experience mandatory
  • Must have travel experience
  • Valid BLS certification required
  • Expertise in the following surgical areas and procedures:
    • Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
    • Gynecology: Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Dilation & Curettage
    • Plastics: Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free Flap - Microvascular, Mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction
    • Neurology: ALIF, Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF
    • Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, Multiple injury MVAs
    • Podiatry: Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy, Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, Metatarsal surgery
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
    • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Open reduction of fractures, Ortho/Spine surgeries, Spinal fusion, Total joint replacement
    • Urology: Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
    • Robotics: Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Gastrointestinal robotic surgery, Urologic robotic surgery
    • Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT): Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
    • Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases
    • Thoracic: Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)
  • Work settings experience in Ambulatory OR (required), General OR, and Trauma
  • Proficient with cell saver devices and Hana Table operation (both required)
  • Knowledge of administration of blood & blood products, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, and adherence to Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures
  • Emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, and malignant hyperthermia protocols

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proficient perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a broad range of surgical procedures including complex vascular, orthopedic, neurological, trauma, and robotic surgeries.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and quality care.
  • Utilize Epic for accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards and safety protocols including Universal Protocol to minimize risk.
  • Prepare and manage surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supplies including specialized devices such as the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and Hana Table.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing efficient code and trauma support as needed.
  • Coordinate blood and blood product administration ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines.
  • Assist in preoperative and postoperative patient care, including managing specimen handling and labeling.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain clinical competence and stay updated on advances in surgical nursing.

Qualifications

  • Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 3 years of OR nursing experience with a preference for 5 years
  • BLS certification mandatory
  • Demonstrated experience in Trauma Level I care and ambulatory OR settings
  • Strong proficiency in Epic electronic charting system
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts with a 3-shift per week schedule
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills
  • Flexible and travel-ready to meet staffing needs
