Schedule
- Day Shift
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5 days per week, 8 hours each)
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience (preferred)
- Experience in Adult and Pediatric Rehabilitation Facilities (required)
- Acute Care setting experience
- Proficient with Epic charting system (preferred)
- Travel experience required
- Current BLS Certification
- Demonstrated skills in managing:
- Amputee patients
- Arthritis (including arthritis programs)
- Coma management
- Hand injury rehabilitation
- Multiple sclerosis
- Nerve injury
- Parkinson’s disease
- Spinal cord injury
- Tendon repair
- Orthopedic rehabilitation including:
- Soft tissue injuries
- Hip and knee injury management (including fractures and replacements)
- Competency in billing and documentation:
- Assessments
- Evaluations
- Plan of Care development
- Reassessments (required)
- Discharge documentation
- Proficiency in using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) evaluation tool
- Strong professional skills including:
- Patient and family education (required)
- Lifting and transfer techniques
- Safety and injury prevention
- Effective telephone communication (required)
- Additional expertise required in infection prevention and fall/risk assessment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy care to adult and pediatric patients within acute care and rehabilitation settings, ensuring individualized and evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform evaluations, ongoing assessments, and reassessments measuring functional independence, progress, and patient needs using FIM and other clinical tools.
- Manage care for patients with complex neurological and orthopedic conditions including amputations, arthritis, coma, hand injuries, multiple sclerosis, nerve injuries, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injuries, and tendon repairs.
- Develop, implement, and document effective treatment plans, addressing rehabilitation goals and patient education for optimal recovery outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless patient care transitions and optimize rehabilitation outcomes.
- Execute proper billing and documentation protocols, ensuring compliance and accuracy in assessments, plans of care, and discharge summaries.
- Educate patients and families on treatment strategies, safety measures, injury prevention, and self-management techniques to enhance rehabilitation success.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention standards and conduct fall and risk assessments proactively to promote patient safety.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and health care team members through telephone calls and other professional interactions.
- Travel as required to fulfill assignment locations and patient care needs.
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in acute care and rehabilitation settings.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic or similar electronic health record systems preferred.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse patient population including adults and pediatrics with complex conditions.
- Strong clinical judgment, patient education skills, and effective communication abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed for assignments.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety.
