Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR RN) in Santa Rosa, CA

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse with specialized experience in the Operating Room to join our dynamic healthcare team. Schedule

  • Day Shift – Three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in the Operating Room; preference for 5 years
  • Proficient with Epic charting system (required)
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Must have previous travel experience in healthcare settings
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in Ambulatory OR setting (required)
  • Familiarity and proficiency with specialized surgical equipment, including Cell saver and Hana Table (required)
  • Skilled in robotic-assisted surgical procedures utilizing Da Vinci Xi Surgical System (required), including gastrointestinal and urologic robotic surgeries
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and motor vehicle accident injuries
  • Expertise in surgical case management across multiple specialties detailed below:
    • Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty and stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
    • Gynecology: Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Dilation & Curettage
    • Plastics: Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free Flap – Microvascular, Mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
    • Neurology: ALIF, Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF
    • Podiatry: Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy, Hallux valgus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, Metatarsal surgery
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
    • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed & open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Spine surgery, Spinal fusion, Total joint replacement
    • Urology: Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
    • Ear/Nose/Throat: Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
    • Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases
    • Thoracic: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery)
  • Proficient in professional nursing knowledge and skills:
    • Administration of blood and blood products
    • Infection control protocols
    • Laser and Radiation Safety
    • Specimen handling and labeling
    • Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures
  • Thorough understanding of emergency management including:
    • Code response
    • Fire Safety
    • Latex Allergy precautions
    • Malignant Hyperthermia management

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced OR environment
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring functionality and sterilization
  • Collaborate closely with surgical teams to facilitate complex procedures across multiple specialties
  • Implement and adhere to infection control protocols and universal surgical safety measures
  • Chart and document patient care precisely using the Epic system
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations in compliance with established hospital and safety protocols
  • Administer blood and blood products safely and monitor patient reactions
  • Maintain vigilance and adherence to laser and radiation safety standards during procedures
  • Support patient positioning and care with specialized equipment such as the Hana Table
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current with best practices and surgical technologies

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California
  • Three or more years of progressive OR nursing experience with preference for five years
  • Strong competency in handling a diverse range of surgical cases as detailed in the requirements
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Proven experience with trauma Level I cases
  • Competent in use of Epic electronic medical records system
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to travel as required and adapt to different clinical settings
