Requirements and Skills
- Proven experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist or within IR/Vascular technology
- Strong proficiency in operating interventional radiology imaging equipment
- Ability to assist physicians during vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient preparation, radiation safety, and sterile techniques
- Excellent understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to radiology
- Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care standards
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and operate interventional radiology imaging equipment during procedures to capture accurate diagnostic images
- Collaborate closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and safe patient care
- Assist in positioning patients and applying radiation protection principles to minimize exposure
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure optimal functionality
- Perform pre-procedural patient preparation and provide clear post-procedural instructions
- Document procedural details and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe and sterile procedural environment
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
- Certification as an IR Technologist, RT(R) with ARRT Interventional Radiology certification preferred
- Valid state licensure as required
- Prior experience in interventional radiology or vascular technologist role highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advances in IR technologies and procedures
