Shift/Schedule

  • Typically 12-hour shifts
  • Schedule based on unit staffing needs

Requirements and Skills

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
  • Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing
  • Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
  • Proficient in monitoring and managing ventilators, IV pumps, and other ICU equipment
  • Ability to handle high-acuity patients with complex medical conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
  • Monitor and interpret patient vital signs and clinical data continuously
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and therapies following physician orders and protocols
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Educate patients and families regarding care plans and treatment progress
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient condition and interventions
  • Respond efficiently to emergency situations and changes in patient status
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and safety standards

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Valid RN license in the state of Nebraska
  • Demonstrated ICU experience preferred
  • BLS certification required at hire
  • ACLS certification highly recommended
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
