Licensed Practical Nurse-Oncology

MUST HAVE RECENT ONCOLOGY EXPERIENCE General Information: Outpatient clinic Minimum Experience: 1.5 years of nursing experience – 1 year must be in Oncology and must be current experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? No – must have completed at least (1) 13-week assignment Travelers must live >100 miles away from facility Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler Patient Types: 18+ years old Medical Oncology/Chemotherapy Infusion Hematology BMT – pre-transplant and post-transplant Visits per Day: Average # of patients seen per day – Approximately 15-25 patients per day with CA support Required Certifications: LPN: BLS Required Education: LPN: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Skills required: LPN: EPIC Ambulatory is required Experience as first assist and chaperoning for provider with exams and procedures done in clinic Clinic experience required Rooming patients; VS, Review of Systems, Medication Reconciliation, Weight Obtaining orders; processing patients for infusions/communication if cleared Chart checks Set up for procedures Review of referrals Support on the Unit: Department Leadership CA Charge nurse Team Lead as resource Lab on site Chemo nurses will do port access and blood draws Physician Team consists of (7) Medical Oncologists each Medical Oncologist will typically have an ARNP Charting System/Equipment: Epic Ambulatory - required Floating: If yes, where? Will routinely work with different physicians within Medical Oncology Possibly pulled to work with other physicians outside of Medical Oncology (to another clinic), but unlikely Orientation: (facility and unit) In department at CCI-Rapid City; 5 days is most common Scheduling: Departmental Orientation – typically, 5 days – subject to change dependent on skillset and comfort level Scheduling: Shift is 7am-5:30pm. Day off is based on clinic needs each week.
