We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Outpatient Operating Room team in Santa Rosa, CA. Shift / Schedule
- Day Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (5 days per week, 8 hours per day)
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Proficiency with electronic charting systems; Epic preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- No travel experience required
- Clinical experience in the following work settings:
- Ambulatory Operating Room
- General Operating Room
- Knowledge and experience in surgical procedures including, but not limited to:
- Podiatry: Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy, Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, Metatarsal surgery
- Orthopedic: ACL reconstruction, Arthroscopy, Arthrotomy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed and open reduction of fractures
- Gynecology: Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted procedures
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy
- Plastics: Breast augmentation, Mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
- Ophthalmology: Cataract extraction and implant (required)
- Urology: Circumcision, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Transurethral resection of the prostate
- Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT): Endoscopic sinus procedures, Mastoidectomy/Tympanoplasty/Stapedectomy, Septoplasty/Rhinoplasty, Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy
- Pediatric ENT: Myringotomy with tubes, Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy
- Familiarity with surgical equipment and supplies including:
- Electrosurgical units
- Fiber optic light sources and cords
- Strong professional knowledge and skills such as:
- Infection control protocols
- Laser safety
- Radiation safety
- Specimen handling and labeling
- Universal Protocol (Time Out) compliance
- Urinary bladder catheterization
- Wound management
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of outpatient surgical procedures.
- Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and instrumentation are sterile and functional.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, high-quality surgical care.
- Monitor patient vital signs and condition before, during, and after surgery to ensure safety and comfort.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and Universal Protocol policies to maintain a safe OR environment.
- Perform effective specimen handling and labeling to maintain accuracy and traceability in surgical processes.
- Educate patients and families about procedures, postoperative care, and potential complications.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely using Epic or other approved electronic charting systems.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and hospital policies related to surgery and patient care.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience in surgical or outpatient settings.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic medical records systems preferred.
- Strong clinical knowledge of a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures as listed above.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient safety and delivering compassionate care.
Compensation & Benefits
