We are actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Therapy/Rehabilitation professional to join our Acute Care Physical Therapy department. Shift Schedule
- Day Shift
- 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
- 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in therapy/rehabilitation
- Experience in Acute Care settings (required)
- Proficient with charting systems, preferably Epic
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Physical Therapist (PT) licensure
- Experience with bed alarms and specialty beds, including air mattresses (required)
- Strong skills in patient assessments including:
- Active, active-assisted, and passive range of motion (AROM/AAROM/PROM)
- Pain assessment and skin integrity evaluation
- Strength testing and vital sign monitoring
- Use of assistive devices such as crutches, standard walkers, gait belts, hospital beds, and supplemental oxygen delivery
- Cardiopulmonary knowledge including breathing techniques (required), COPD, CHF, CABG, and MI management
- Neurological expertise with cognitive disorders and dementia/Alzheimer’s care (required), as well as post-stroke rehabilitation
- Orthopedic rehabilitation including gait training, treatment of hip fractures, knee injuries/tendinopathy, and total joint replacements (hip and knee)
- Professional competence in designing and implementing Home Exercise Programs and providing patient-family education (required)
- Additional experience desirable in ER, ICU, and Medical Surgical settings
- No travel experience required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments evaluating range of motion, strength, pain, skin integrity, and cardiopulmonary status
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans including Home Exercise Programs tailored to patient needs
- Provide patient and family education to support recovery and promote safe functional independence
- Utilize assistive devices and specialty equipment to maximize patient safety and therapeutic outcomes
- Document patient evaluations, progress notes, reassessments, discharge plans, and short-term goals using Epic or preferred charting systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes in acute care settings
- Apply evidence-based cardiopulmonary and neurological rehabilitation techniques, including management of COPD, CHF, MI, dementia, cognitive disorders, and stroke
- Deliver proficient orthopedic rehabilitation for a range of musculoskeletal conditions and post-operative care
- Adhere to safety protocols including effective use of bed alarms, call lights, and other hospital safety devices
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care therapy
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems, preferably Epic
- Strong clinical knowledge of orthopedic, neurologic, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Compensation & Benefits
