Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as a Cath Lab Technologist or Cath Lab Tech
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
  • Proficiency in operating angiography, fluoroscopy, and other imaging equipment used in catheterization procedures
  • Ability to assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Exceptional understanding of sterile technique and infection control standards
  • Capability to monitor patients’ vital signs and respond to emergencies during procedures
  • Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and coordination with healthcare team members
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices
  • Current certification and licensure as required by state and professional standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain catheterization laboratory equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures
  • Assist physicians with catheter placement, imaging, and cardiovascular interventions
  • Operate and monitor diagnostic equipment to capture high-quality images
  • Maintain sterile field and ensure compliance with infection control guidelines
  • Monitor patient status during procedures, including vital signs and responsiveness
  • Document procedures, patient responses, and any complications accurately and promptly
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated with industry standards and technologies

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program or equivalent education
  • Current registration or certification as a Cath Lab Technologist (e.g., RCIS, RCES) preferred
  • Minimum experience as a Cath Lab Technologist in a clinical setting
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment
  • Compliance with all licensure and certification requirements to practice in Wisconsin
