We are actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team specializing in the OR RN SMMC Surgery unit. Schedule

  • Day Shift (3x12 Hours): 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Day Shift (3x12 Hours): 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system preferred
  • Travel experience is required
  • Current ACLS certification (required)
  • Current BLS certification
  • Demonstrated expertise in vascular surgical procedures, including endovascular aneurysm repair
  • Experience assisting with gynecological procedures such as C-sections and vulvectomy
  • Proficient in plastics surgeries, including abdominoplasty and breast augmentation
  • Proficient in neurologic surgeries including ALIF, anterior cervical fusion, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion
  • Experience in ambulatory OR settings (required)
  • Skilled in trauma care including amputations, gunshot/stab wound management, and multi-injury MVAs
  • Expertise in podiatry surgeries such as ankle fusion and bunionectomy
  • Competent in general surgeries including mastectomy and thyroidectomy
  • Orthopedic surgical skillset including arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, spinal fusion, and joint replacement
  • Proficient in endoscopic procedures including bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, and PEG tube placement
  • Experienced in ophthalmologic surgeries including cataract extraction and vitrectomy
  • Experienced with specialized equipment: cell saver, Hana Table, Steris systems
  • Familiar with urologic surgeries including circumcision, cystectomy, and prostatectomy
  • Skilled in pediatric general surgery circumcisions
  • Professional knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response and malignant hyperthermia
  • Robotics surgery experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, including gynecologic and urologic robotic surgery
  • Expertise in ENT surgeries such as endoscopic sinus procedures, radical neck dissection, and tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Experienced with thoracic surgeries including thoracotomy and VATS
  • Proficient in essential clinical skills: administration of blood/blood products, cardiac monitoring, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, peripheral IV insertion, universal protocol adherence, urinary catheterization, wound management

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the ambulatory and general operating rooms
  • Assist surgical teams during complex procedures across multiple specialties including vascular, gynecologic, neurologic, plastic, orthopedic, trauma, podiatry, general surgery, urology, ENT, thoracic, and ophthalmology
  • Manage and operate specialized surgical equipment such as cell saver, Hana Table, and Steris sterilization systems
  • Deliver safe and effective administration of blood and blood products and conduct cardiac monitoring throughout surgical procedures
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, laser, radiation safety protocols, and universal time-out procedures to ensure patient safety
  • Maintain meticulous documentation using Epic or preferred charting systems
  • Coordinate emergency management and respond to codes and other urgent situations with professionalism and expertise
  • Support the use and integration of robotic surgical systems to enhance surgical outcomes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and surgical efficiency
  • Commit to continuous learning and staying current with surgical best practices and technological advancements

Qualifications

  • Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in an OR nursing role
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Demonstrated competence in a wide range of surgical specialties as outlined in requirements
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records system preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel as required for assignments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $66.00 - $78.00
