Shift & Schedule
- Night Shift – 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of Registered Nurse experience required, specifically in a high acuity and high pace environment. Candidates with less than 2 years must be screened by the manager for consideration.
- Experience managing patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
- Proficient use of Epic charting system
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AWHONN Advanced Certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Demonstrated expertise in Labor and Delivery clinical skills including amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating in C-sections, forceps/vacuum extractions, hemorrhage/shock management, sterile vaginal exams, and C-section recovery
- Medication administration experience including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), and terbutaline
- Neonatal care proficiency in the delivery room with APGAR scoring, baby nurse (“baby catcher”) duties, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation using radiant warmers
- Postpartum patient care skills including management of bladder distension, cesarean section recovery, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery
- Postpartum procedures such as breastfeeding and lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter insertion/management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, use of electric/manual breast pumps, and wound assessment/care
- Pain management experience including epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, nitrous oxide (required), opioids, and pain assessment
- Comfort working in high-risk antepartum settings and applying isolation precautions and PPE
- Newborn care skills including newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, and thermoregulation
- Fetal monitoring expertise with recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and use of external fetal monitoring
- IV therapy and phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs (required)
- Antepartum care including triage of obstetrical patients (required)
- Experience with surgical procedures such as tubal ligation
- Travel experience is not required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional monitoring and care for laboring patients and their newborns in a high-acuity labor and delivery setting
- Perform comprehensive assessments including fetal monitoring and maternal and neonatal status
- Administer medications and interventions safely and effectively according to ordered protocols including high-risk therapies
- Assist in deliveries including vaginal, high-risk, and surgical cases, providing critical support during emergencies such as hemorrhage and shock
- Support postpartum recovery with focused care to mother and infant, facilitating bonding, feeding, and health education
- Ensure accurate electronic documentation via Epic to promote communication and continuity of care
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards and isolation protocols
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide compassionate education and emotional support to patients and families throughout the childbirth process
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
- Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience in labor and delivery or maternal-child nursing in a fast-paced environment
- Current ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, and NRP certifications
- Proficient in electronic medical record charting, specifically Epic
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to manage complex obstetric patients
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work the scheduled night shift consistently
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $59.00 - $70.00
