Requirements & Skills

  • Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification or equivalent qualification
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin
  • Proven experience as an RNFA with a solid understanding of perioperative procedures
  • Excellent surgical assisting knowledge including tissue handling, wound closure, and hemostasis
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with surgical teams
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and provide critical support during procedures
  • Strict adherence to patient safety protocols and infection control standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons during invasive procedures by providing direct surgical assistance
  • Prepare operating room and maintain sterile field prior to surgery
  • Perform tissue handling, wound closure, hemostasis, and other technical tasks as needed during surgery
  • Coordinate with surgical team members to ensure efficient and safe patient care
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs intraoperatively and communicate any concerns immediately
  • Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient assessment and care planning
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures and patient outcomes
  • Uphold compliance with all regulatory standards and hospital policies

Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin
  • Completion of an accredited RNFA program or equivalent training
  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse First Assistant in a surgical setting preferred
  • Strong clinical knowledge of perioperative nursing and surgical techniques
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to dynamic surgical environments
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices in patient care

Compensation: Hourly rate ranging from $88.00 - $104.00 per hour.
