Requirements and Skills

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred or equivalent surgical tech certification
• Experience working in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) or related surgical settings
• Proficient in preparing operating rooms with the necessary equipment and instruments
• Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and provide timely instrumentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to perform well under pressure

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare the CVOR for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and functional
• Assist surgeons and operating room staff during cardiovascular surgeries by passing instruments and supplies as needed
• Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure to minimize the risk of infection
• Manage surgical instrumentation inventory and assist with restocking surgical supplies
• Assist with patient positioning and transport as necessary for surgical cases
• Support all safety protocols, including time-out procedures and accurate surgical counts
• Collaborate closely with surgical teams to ensure smooth operation flow and effective communication
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality assurance measures

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program
• Current CST or equivalent surgical technology certification
• Demonstrated experience in cardiovascular OR environments preferred
• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and CVOR procedures
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
