Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Outpatient OR | Santa Rosa, CA

We are actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Outpatient Operating Room (OR) team in Santa Rosa, CA. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts)

Requirements & Skills

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – Required
  • Preferred experience with Epic charting system
  • No travel experience required
  • Proficient in working within Ambulatory and General OR settings
  • Experience with specialized surgical procedures across multiple disciplines including:
    • Podiatry: Ankle fusion, bunionectomy, hallux valgus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, metatarsal surgery
    • Orthopedic: Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open fracture reduction
    • Gynecology: Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted procedures
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy
    • Plastics: Breast augmentation, mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
    • Ophthalmology: Cataract extraction and implant (required)
    • Urology: Circumcision, cystoscopy, laparoscopic assisted cases, transurethral resection of the prostate
    • Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT): Endoscopic sinus procedures, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
    • Pediatric ENT: Myringotomy with tubes, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Familiarity with surgical equipment and instrumentation including electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
  • Strong professional knowledge in infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedure, urinary bladder catheterization, and wound management

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the Outpatient OR setting following established protocols and best practices
  • Assist surgeons and surgical team during a wide variety of cases, ensuring patient safety and sterile technique throughout the procedure
  • Prepare patients for surgery by conducting preoperative assessments and providing education
  • Utilize charting systems, preferably Epic, to document patient care accurately and timely
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements including universal protocol and specimen management
  • Operate and manage surgical equipment and instrumentation safely and effectively
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and smooth workflow in the outpatient surgical environment
  • Provide post-operative care, monitoring patients for signs of complications and facilitating their recovery

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
  • BLS certification is mandatory
  • Proven experience in an Ambulatory or General Operating Room setting preferred
  • Solid understanding and experience with a broad range of surgical specialties as outlined in the skills section
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $53.00 - $63.00
