Join Our Team as a Surgical Services CVOR Tech in Lubbock, TX

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Services professional specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room Technology to join our dynamic team in Lubbock, TX. This opportunity is perfect for experienced individuals passionate about advanced surgical care within cardiovascular and vascular specialties. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
  • Hours: 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of consecutive experience specifically in Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Experience working with a patient ratio of 1:4
  • Charting Systems: Epic preferred
  • Teaching Hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Travel experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, CST, NBSTSA
  • Extensive skills and knowledge in vascular procedures including:
    • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair
    • Aortobifemoral bypass
    • Aortocaval and Aortoenteric fistula repair
    • Arteriovenous fistula and malformation surgery
    • Atherectomy, Carotid procedures (angioplasty, stenting, Endarterectomy)
    • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR), Femoral popliteal bypass graft
    • Laparoscopic assisted cases
    • Renal artery bypass surgery, TEVAR
    • Vein stripping
  • Cardiovascular surgical expertise including:
    • Angioplasty/stenting, Aortic Aneurysm repair
    • Atrial Septal defect repair, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
    • Laparoscopic cardiac surgery, Mitral valve replacement
    • Pericardial window, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Professional knowledge in:
    • Aseptic Technique
    • Instrument Processing
    • Isolation Precautions and PPE
    • Sharps Safety
    • Specimen Handling and labeling
    • Sterilization and Disinfection methods
    • Suture Removal
    • Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure adherence
  • Experience with equipment and instrumentation:
    • Care of scopes & fiber optic equipment
    • Case cart preparation and management
    • Using drills (multiple types) and electrosurgical units
    • Fiber optic light sources/cords
    • High level disinfectant (HLD) procedures
  • Work settings include:
    • Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
    • General Operating Room
    • Hybrid Operating Room
    • Teaching Hospital environment
    • Trauma care settings
  • Emergency and trauma management skills, including:
    • Fire Safety knowledge
    • Handling gunshot and stab wounds
    • Managing multiple injuries from motor vehicle accidents (MVA)
  • Transplant surgery experience including kidney transplants and organ donation
  • Understanding of sterile processing protocols, including decontamination, sterilization process, and indicators
  • Thoracic surgery skills covering:
    • Laparoscopic assisted cases
    • Lung resection via Thoracotomy
    • Mediastinoscopy
    • Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)
  • Additional essential skills:
    • Recent cardiovascular case experience within the last 3 months
    • Experience with open heart cases

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field in the Cardiovascular Operating Room during complex surgical procedures
  • Assist surgeons and surgical team with vascular, cardiovascular, thoracic, trauma, and transplant procedures
  • Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques, safety protocols, and universal time-out procedures
  • Operate and maintain surgical instruments, scopes, fiber optic equipment, and electrosurgical devices
  • Manage inventory including case carts, surgical supplies, and sterilization materials
  • Document surgical procedures accurately in the preferred charting system (Epic)
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies such as fire safety and trauma cases within the operating room environment
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, teaching hospital or trauma center setting
  • Support quality patient care through vigilant monitoring and efficient case turnover

Qualifications

  • Current certifications in BLS, CST, and NBSTSA are mandatory
  • Proven clinical expertise in cardiovascular surgery with at least 2 years of consecutive experience
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile processing in cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic environments
  • Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, rapid-turnover surgical environment
  • Exceptional communication skills and teamwork orientation
  • Flexibility to travel as required

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $52.00 - $61.00 per hour
