Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Outpatient OR in Santa Rosa, CA

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Outpatient Operating Room (OR) team in Santa Rosa, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise in a fast-paced surgical environment while delivering exceptional patient care. Shift / Schedule

  • Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts)

Requirements and Skills

  • Preferred experience with charting systems, specifically Epic
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proven skills in various surgical specialties and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Ambulatory & General OR: Expertise in outpatient operating room nursing and general OR knowledge
    • Podiatry Procedures: Ankle fusion, bunionectomy, hallux valgus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, metatarsal surgery
    • Orthopedic Surgery: Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL), arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures
    • Gynecology: Anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy), dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures
    • General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy
    • Plastics: Breast augmentation, mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
    • Ophthalmology: Cataract extraction and implant (required)
    • Urology: Circumcision, cystoscopy, laparoscopic assisted cases, transurethral resection of the prostate
    • Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT): Endoscopic sinus procedures, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
    • Pediatric ENT: Myringotomy with tubes, tonsillectomy/adenoids
  • Familiarity with equipment, instrumentation, and supplies such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
  • Strong professional knowledge including:
    • Infection control
    • Laser safety
    • Radiation safety
    • Specimen handling and labeling
    • Universal protocol (time out) procedure
    • Urinary bladder catheterization
    • Wound management
  • No travel experience required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality perioperative nursing care in the outpatient operating room setting
  • Prepare and maintain sterile environments while assisting surgical teams during a broad range of procedures across multiple specialties
  • Accurately document patient care activities and surgical information using preferred charting systems including Epic
  • Monitor patients’ conditions before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure optimal outcomes and patient safety
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ancillary staff to ensure seamless patient care delivery
  • Implement infection control standards and safety protocols, including Universal Protocol “time out” procedures and proper specimen handling
  • Manage surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring proper setup, function, and sterilization
  • Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, recovery, and postoperative care as needed

Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Previous experience in Ambulatory and General OR nursing with exposure to a variety of surgical specialties as outlined
  • Proficient with electronic medical records, preferably Epic
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Compensation and Benefits
