We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Surgical team in Santa Monica, CA. Shift / Schedule
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week
- Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (5x8 Hour Shifts)
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Charting system experience: Required, any electronic health record system
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience and skills working in CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Clinical knowledge in cardiovascular procedures, including:
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
- MAZE Procedure
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Emergency management skills, including fire safety protocols
- Proficiency with clinical equipment and instrumentation, including cell saver technology
- Professional competencies in:
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Infection control measures
- Laser and radiation safety practices
- Specimen handling and labeling accuracy
- Implementation of Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures
- Wound management expertise
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures within the Main Operating Room (OR) setting
- Assist surgical teams with preparation, positioning, and monitoring of patients, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and patient safety standards
- Operate and monitor specialized surgical equipment, including cell saver devices, ensuring proper function and safety protocols
- Maintain precise and timely charting utilizing electronic health record systems to document patient care, surgical details, and post-operative assessments
- Administer blood and blood products in accordance with institutional policies and patient needs
- Implement infection control and universal protocols rigorously to minimize risk and enhance patient outcomes
- Perform specimen handling and labeling with accuracy to support diagnostic testing and surgical pathology
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including fire safety and cardiovascular complications during surgery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal surgical outcomes and high-quality patient care
- Ensure compliance with laser and radiation safety standards within the surgical environment
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
- At least one year of acute care nursing experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery or related perioperative settings
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Strong clinical knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and associated nursing care
- Proficiency in electronic charting systems
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced operating room environment
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive hourly rate ranging from $67.00 to $79.00 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications.
