Shift & Schedule
- Day Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
- Hours: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience (1.5 years is a hard stop)
- Charting experience with Epic system (required)
- Travel experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficient in professional knowledge and skills including:
- End-Tidal CO2 monitoring
- Activated Clotting Time (ACT) measurement
- Circulating during procedures
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Monitoring procedural sedation
- Vascular studies and procedures experience with angioplasty (required)
- Neurological procedures experience including:
- Angioplasty
- Carotid angiography
- Cerebral angiography
- Electrophysiology procedures expertise with:
- Arrhythmia induction (required)
- Baseline measurements (required)
- Cardiac ablation (required)
- Cardiac mapping (required)
- Conduction studies (required)
- Insertion/programming of AICDs (required)
- Left atrial appendage (LAA) closure (required)
- Pacemaker insertion
- Scrub procedures (required)
- Cardiac Cath Lab procedure competencies including:
- ASD closures (required)
- Cardiac implant closure devices (required)
- Cardiac stent placement
- Diagnostic catheterizations (adult patients)
- IABP placement/removal (required)
- Impella insertion (required)
- Interventional catheterizations
- Left heart catheterization
- Pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction/removal (required)
- Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Right heart catheterization
- Rotablator atherectomy (required)
- Scrub procedures (required)
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) (required)
- Valvuloplasty (required)
- Ventricular assist device insertion (required)
- IV therapy skills including:
- Assisting with central line insertion and management (required)
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience in work settings such as:
- Diagnostic Cardiac Cath lab
- Electrophysiology (EP) Lab (required)
- Hybrid Operating Room (required)
- Interventional Cardiac Cath lab
- Interventional Radiology (required)
- Knowledge of medications including emergency drugs and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac, electrophysiology, and neurological procedures
- Perform and assist with specialized vascular, neurological, and cardiac cath lab procedures ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and protocols
- Monitor patient condition rigorously during procedural sedation, dysrhythmia management, and invasive interventions
- Operate and monitor advanced equipment including End-Tidal CO2, Activated Clotting Time devices, and pulmonary artery catheters
- Chart patient data and procedural notes accurately using the Epic electronic health record system
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes during complex cardiac and electrophysiology procedures
- Maintain sterile field and scrub in as needed during interventional and electrophysiology cases
- Support vascular access procedures, including central line insertions and IV therapy management
- Educate patients and family members about procedures, medication management, and post-procedure care
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
- Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience in cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, or related specialized nursing settings
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proficiency with Epic charting system and electronic medical records
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able and willing to travel as required
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced procedural environments
Compensation
