Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Specialized in Oncology Care

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in Issaquah, WA, at the SCI Issaquah unit. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Workweek: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Certifications required: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), OCN
  • Extensive experience in IV Therapy and Infusions, including:
    • Accessing and managing ports
    • Administration of blood and blood products
    • Care and management of ports
    • Performing central line blood draws
    • Central line and implanted line care
    • Infusion pump management (required)
    • Intravenous hydration and multivitamin administration
    • PICC line care
    • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Proficiency in managing oncologic emergencies such as:
    • Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS)
    • Anaphylaxis
    • Extravasation injury (required)
    • Hemorrhage (required)
    • Sepsis (required)
    • Spinal Cord Compression (required)
  • Experience in chemotherapy administration and management, including:
    • Administration of chemotherapy
    • Body fluid handling post chemotherapy
    • Continuous infusion of chemotherapy
    • Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills (required)
    • Monitoring chemotherapy effects
    • Oral administration of chemotherapy
    • Recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values
  • Work settings experience required:
    • Infusion Center (required)
    • Inpatient oncology (required)
    • Outpatient oncology (required)
  • Professional knowledge and skills including:
    • Phlebotomy skills (required)
  • Additional Skills:
    • Chemotherapy experience
  • No travel experience required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert nursing care to oncology patients across infusion, inpatient, and outpatient settings
  • Perform IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs, managing infusion pumps, and caring for ports and central lines
  • Administer chemotherapy safely, adhering to protocols for dosage, administration, and post-chemotherapy body fluid handling
  • Monitor patient responses to treatments, recognizing and addressing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, and sepsis
  • Manage and dispose of cytotoxic materials in compliance with safety regulations
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient status and abnormal laboratory results
  • Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care, treatments, and patient observations
  • Support patient education and family engagement around treatment plans and symptom management

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington
  • Current BLS certification
  • Oncology-specific certifications: Chemo (ONS/ONCC) and OCN required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in critical oncology nursing skills, including infusion therapy, chemotherapy administration, and emergency management
  • Strong clinical decision-making and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to evidence-based practices
