Requirements and Skills
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential
- Experience working in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and infection control standards
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and assist effectively during cardiovascular and general surgical procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile environment
- Capability to work effectively as part of a collaborative surgical team
- Strong communication skills and professionalism in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgery by ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterilized and ready
- Assist surgeons and surgical staff during cardiovascular and other specialty procedures by passing instruments and supplies as needed
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control policies throughout procedures
- Set up and inspect surgical equipment prior to use, ensuring functionality and safety standards
- Participate in procedural counts of sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure patient safety
- Clean and restock the operating room following procedures to prepare for subsequent cases
- Collaborate with surgical team members and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Experience in cardiovascular operating rooms or related surgical specialties preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure in emergency situations
Compensation: Hourly rate ranging from $62.00 to $73.00
