Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Radiology Oncology in Edmonds, WA

We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Radiology Oncology team. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts)

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
  • Proficient in Epic charting system (required)
  • Registered Nurse licensure with Radiation Oncology certification (required)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with travel nursing assignments (required)
  • Strong clinical knowledge of oncologic emergencies including:
    • Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS)
    • Hemorrhage management
    • Increased intracranial pressure
    • Spinal cord compression
  • Psychosocial care expertise, including addressing advanced directives
  • Comprehensive symptom management skills covering:
    • Alterations in skin and mucous membranes
    • Altered mental status
    • Constipation and diarrhea
    • Dysphagia
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Neuropathy
    • Nutritional status monitoring
  • Medication management including:
    • Antiemetics
    • Opioids administration and monitoring
    • Surveillance for medication side effects
  • Professional skills including:
    • Calling in prescriptions
    • Following isolation precautions and PPE protocols
    • Timely notification of physicians regarding changes in patient status
  • Expertise in radiation therapy modalities:
    • External Beam Radiation Therapy (Teletherapy)
    • Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
    • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
    • Palliative radiation therapy
    • Strict adherence to radiation safety precautions
    • Wound care management
  • Assessment skills including evaluation of:
    • Fatigue and energy level
    • Height and weight
    • Nutritional status
    • Oral cavity health
    • Skin integrity and wound assessment
  • Work experience in:
    • Inpatient oncology
    • Outpatient oncology
    • Radiation Oncology settings
  • Chemotherapy administration knowledge including:
    • Oral chemotherapy administration
    • Recognition and communication of abnormal lab values
  • Additional clinical skill with suctioning techniques

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert nursing care during radiation oncology treatments, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Manage and monitor oncologic emergencies promptly, intervening as necessary.
  • Administer medications including antiemetics and opioids while monitoring for adverse effects.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, documenting fatigue, nutritional status, skin integrity, and wounds.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using Epic charting system.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication regimens, and radiation safety precautions.
  • Adhere to all infection control and isolation precautions to ensure a safe care environment.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers about changes in patient condition.
  • Support psychosocial care needs of patients including discussions regarding advanced directives.
  • Participate in continuous education and maintain certifications related to radiation oncology nursing.
  • Assist with chemotherapy administration and lab monitoring as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
  • Radiation Oncology certification is mandatory
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience with proven oncology radiation nursing expertise
  • Proficient use of Epic electronic health records system
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings
  • Willingness to travel for assignments as required
  • Compassionate patient-centered attitude and excellent teamwork skills

Compensation & Benefits
