Requirements and Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Dakota or compact state eligibility
- Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Ability to perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments
- Strong clinical skills in fetal monitoring and emergency response
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care throughout the labor and delivery process, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases
- Conduct maternal and fetal assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret fetal heart tracings
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Educate and support patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Respond promptly and efficiently to obstetric emergencies and complications
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient documentation and comply with all regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing
- Previous L&D nursing experience preferred
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to nursing care
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to scheduling needs
