Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – ICU RN (Night Shift) in Lubbock, TX

Shift & Schedule
- Night Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Proficiency with Epic charting system
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
- Extensive neurological skills, including:
- Management of CVA/Acute Stroke patients
- Care of patients with External Ventricular Drains (EVD)
- ICP monitoring expertise
- Lumbar drain management
- Post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery patient care
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities, including:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- IV therapy experience:
- Arterial line management
- Central line care and management
- Medication administration proficiency:
- Continuous IV sedation
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Respiratory and thoracic nursing skills, including:
- Management and maintenance of BiPAP/CPAP
- Care of ventilated patients
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Adherence to isolation precautions and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Strong surgical and neurological nursing skills
- No travel required for this position
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, patient-focused nursing care for critically ill neurological patients in the ICU
- Monitor and manage external ventricular drains, ICP, and lumbar drains to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
- Deliver expert stroke management and post-neurosurgery care, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and initiate emergency interventions when necessary
- Administer medications including IV sedation and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips accurately and safely
- Manage arterial and central lines with strict adherence to infection control protocols
- Support respiratory care including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP support, and airway suctioning
- Document patient care comprehensively using the Epic system ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain isolation precautions and proper PPE usage in accordance with facility policies
- Serve as an advocate for patient safety, delivering high standards of care while working effectively in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
- Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience with neurological patient focus
- Active certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Proficient use of Epic electronic health records system
- Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality patient care
