Join Our Team as a Surgical Services Professional – CVOR Tech in Lubbock, TX

We are actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Services professional to join our dynamic team in the CVOR department. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day

Requirements & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of consecutive experience in Cardiovascular Surgery (required)
  • Patient ratio experience: 1:4
  • Experience with Trauma Level II (required); Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Travel experience within the role is required
  • Previous working experience within a Teaching Hospital preferred
  • Preferred experience with Epic charting system
  • Current certifications required: BLS, CST, NBSTSA
  • Proficient in cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures including but not limited to:
    • Vascular procedures such as Aortic Aneurysm repairs, Carotid Endarterectomy, Atherectomy, TEVAR, and Femoral-popliteal bypass graft
    • Cardiovascular surgeries including CABG, Mitral valve replacement, TAVR, and Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
  • Professional knowledge in aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions/PPE usage, sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling, sterilization/disinfection, suture removal, and adherence to universal protocol (time out)
  • Experience with equipment/instrumentation such as fiber optic scopes, drills, electrosurgical units, and high-level disinfectants
  • Work settings experience: CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma
  • Emergency management skills including fire safety
  • Competence in trauma care including gunshot/stab wounds and multi-injury motor vehicle accidents (MVA)
  • Transplant surgery experience focusing on kidney procedures and organ donation requirements
  • Sterile processing knowledge including decontamination and sterilization processes
  • Thoracic surgery support skills including VATS, lung resections, mediastinoscopy, and laparoscopic-assisted cases
  • Recent cardiovascular case experience within the last 3 months, including open heart cases

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, manage, and assist during cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures with precision and attention to sterile technique
  • Set up and maintain surgical instrumentation, supplies, and equipment ensuring readiness and proper function
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to handle case carts, scopes, and fiber optic equipment effectively
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic protocols, patient safety, and infection control standards at all times
  • Assist in patient positioning, preparation, and specimen handling ensuring accurate labeling and documentation
  • Support trauma and transplant surgical cases with appropriate knowledge of emergency procedures and transplant protocols
  • Utilize charting systems (preferably Epic) to document case details and assist in patient care coordination
  • Manage sterilization and decontamination processes in compliance with health and safety guidelines
  • Participate in emergency management and fire safety protocols within the operating room environment
  • Travel as required to support surgical services across multiple locations

Qualifications

  • Completion of accredited surgical technologist program
  • Two or more years of consecutive Cardiovascular surgical experience
  • Valid certifications including BLS, CST, and NBSTSA
  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures
  • Strong knowledge of sterile processing and infection control principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment with attention to detail and patient safety
  • Willingness and capability to travel as required by the role

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $54.00 - $64.00
