About This Position

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and patient-focused Nurse Practitioner to oversee and deliver specialized infusion therapy services in our ambulatory infusion clinic (AIC). This role is integral to ensuring safe, evidence-based care for patients requiring complex infusion treatments. Our passion lies in improving the lives of patients and healthcare professionals through locally owned and operated infusion pharmacies across the country. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in delivering personalized, community-based care while maintaining the highest clinical standards. Primary Responsibilities:

Evaluation and Management: Identifying and managing chronic or acute conditions treated via IV therapies, and utilization of continuity of care with prescribing provider and other members of the health care team throughout their medical therapy.

Advanced physical assessment: Evaluating patient suitability for therapy, checking vital signs, and ensuring baseline labs are within safe parameters.

Medication reconciliation & screening: Reviewing the patient's full medication profile to prevent adverse drug interactions or contraindications.

Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and care teams to coordinate individualized treatment plans.

Vascular access management: Expertise in accessing, maintaining, and troubleshooting peripheral IVs, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), and implanted ports.

Infusion reaction management: Recognizing and promptly treating allergic, anaphylactic, or other adverse reactions (e.g., administering epinephrine, antihistamines, or steroids).

Protocol adherence: Customizing and following evidence-based treatment plans and specific infusion pathways.

Advanced pharmacotherapeutics: Understanding the indications, mechanisms of action, and optimal dosing for biologics, antibiotics, chemotherapy, and hydration therapies.

Lab interpretation: Reviewing and interpreting blood work and diagnostic results to adjust treatment protocols in real-time.

Document all care activities accurately within the EMR systems in compliance with regulatory standards.

Educate patients and caregivers on therapy expectations, potential side effects, and post-infusion care.

Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards.

Support operational workflows including scheduling coordination, documentation review, and patient follow-up.

Maintain compliance with all required annual trainings, competency evaluations, and staff meeting participation.

Participate in onboarding, training and mentorship of new staff.

Excellent client communication skills with a focus on compassionate patient education and support.

Basic Qualifications:

Active and unencumbered Nurse Practitioner (RN) license/certification in state of South Dakota.

Must meet all state and federal background check requirements.

Minimum 1 year of AIC experience.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) required.

Current ACLS required.

Demonstrated competency in:

Peripheral IV access and central line/port management.

Infusion of specialty medications (e.g., IVIG, biologics).

Aseptic technique and infection control practices.

Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.

Strong comfort and proficiency with technology, including electronic health records, email, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams; ability to quickly learn new systems/platforms.

CRNI, IgCN certifications a plus

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
