Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns in a high-acuity perinatal setting. This role involves caring for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, including complex high-risk pregnancies. The ideal candidate is confident in managing labor and delivery emergencies, circulating cesarean sections, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

Job Details

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery

Specialty: Labor & Delivery

Shift: Night Shift – 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Contract Duration: 26 Weeks

Start Date: August 31, 2026

Location: Seattle, Washington

Schedule: 36 hours per week

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience

First-time travelers accepted with previous experience in a similar academic medical center

Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients preferred

Must be experienced circulating Cesarean Sections independently

Experience with EPIC electronic medical record required

OBIX experience preferred

Required Certifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

BLS (Basic Life Support)

NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Preferred Certifications

AWHONN Intermediate

Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)

NCC Certification

Clinical Skills

Labor and delivery management

Vaginal delivery assistance

Cesarean section circulating and recovery

High-risk labor and delivery care

External and internal fetal monitoring

Interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns

Amnioinfusion

Magnesium sulfate therapy

Pitocin administration

Prostaglandin and Terbutaline administration

Epidural and pain management

Obstetrical triage

Non-Stress Tests (NST)

Oxytocin Challenge Tests (OCT)

Sterile vaginal examinations

Newborn assessment and stabilization

APGAR scoring

Breastfeeding support

Postpartum hemorrhage management

Care of multiple births

Pregnancy-induced hypertension

IV therapy and blood product administration

Central line maintenance (preferred)

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients.

Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using electronic fetal monitoring.

Assess labor progression and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.

Independently circulate cesarean sections, ensuring accurate documentation and instrument counts.

Assist with vaginal deliveries and high-risk obstetric procedures.

Deliver immediate newborn care, including assessments, thermoregulation, APGAR scoring, and identification procedures.

Administer medications and IV therapies according to physician orders and established protocols.

Recognize and respond rapidly to obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage and fetal distress.

Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal specialists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other interdisciplinary team members.

Float to other appropriate units within the hospital based on patient care needs.

Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

Follow infection prevention protocols and patient safety standards.

Participate in orientation, mandatory education, and required pre-employment training modules.

Pay: $2,200.00 - $2,500.00 per week
