About This Position

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner-PMHNP-Telepsych-Work from Home, Texas

We are looking for psychiatric nurse practitioner to work from home. 40 hours a week.

Having multiple state licenses is a plus, especially Nevada.

This is a permanent, employed position with benefits (not 1099, so big tax savings). You would be working under the guidance of our lead, board certified psychiatrist.

Our mission is to increase access to mental health care in Texas and provide competent, compassionate care. We have exceptional reviews and patient satisfaction. We minimize prescribing of controlled substances including benzodiazepines.

Job Description:

The PMHNP-BC is responsible for managing an assigned panel of patients with acute and/or chronic mental illness. The nurse provides primary clinical management for a variety of mental health conditions, including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADD, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders and other related conditions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Obtains and documents relevant psychiatric and medical history.

Formulates the appropriate differential diagnosis based on the history, psychiatric examination and clinical findings.

Establishes a plan of care to achieve the identified health goals.

Prescribes (and administers) psychotropic medications

Initiates referrals and/or consultations as appropriate to achieve an interdisciplinary plan of care.

Is proactive in identifying potential emergency/crisis situations and providing appropriate interventions.

Other duties as assigned.

Character Requirements:

Be detailed oriented and efficient

Ability to work in a fast paced environment while adhering to quality standards and maintaining excellent care

Ability to practice psychiatry without deviating from our clinic guidelines and restrictions concerning prescribing, plan of care and scheduling, etc.

A friendly, helpful, non-confrontational demeanor

Extensive knowledge of psychotropic medication

Educational/License requirements:

Provide documentation of at least one year of working with patients with mental illness

Provide documentation of 1,000 hours of active practice prescribing medication in the immediately preceding two (2) years as an APRN. (This is approximately six months of full time work).

You must have an active certification/licensure in another state or jurisdiction and have practiced nursing within the last five (5) years.

You must hold a master’s or doctorate degree in nursing

National certification in mental health/psychiatry with the ANCC

You must provide documentation showing that you are certified as an advanced practice registered nurse by the American Board of Nursing Specialties, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (formerly the National League for Nursing), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence * You must have graduated from a program designed to prepare an advanced practice registered nurse. Your program must have been least one academic year in length, and must include didactic instruction and clinical experience with a qualified physician or APRN. The transcript must show your program included these basic educational components: Advanced health assessment, Advanced pathophysiology, Advanced role preparation,

Mental Health clinical specialty:Clinical preceptorship, Advanced pharmacotherapeutic. If the above components are not clearly identified as courses on your transcript, you must provide an explanatory letter from an authorized school representative, or copies of the relevant pages of the school catalog from the year(s) of your attendance. *

Never charged, arrested or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in any state

Never Been the subject of a board citation, administrative action whether completed or pending in any state

Never Had your license subjected to any discipline for violation of pharmacy or drug laws in any state

No history of an alcohol or drug use disorder

Bilingual a plus

Experience with adolescents a plus

Pay: $140,000.00 - $147,000.00 per year
