About This Position

We are looking for a compassionate, empathetic, motivated, TMS Technologist to provide Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments to our patients under supervision for treatment of Depression, coordinate patient care, assist with administrative aspects of TMS treatments including scheduling, tracking insurance authorizations, administering psychiatric rating scales, attend phone calls and work collaboratively with our senior Technologists. We provide TMS training to our technologists before they begin working with patients.

Candidates with a Bachelors Degree or Pre Medical Students are preferred. This would be an excellent opportunity for Students looking to obtain hands-on clinical experience that would enhance their future applications for Graduate Programs including Medical School.

LVNs, or Certified Medical Assistants with strong medical experience are also encouraged to apply.

Overview:

Working in a superior Integrative Psychiatry Clinic, the TMS Technologist provides potential patients with information about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-drug therapy to treat patients with Major Depressive Disorder. The candidate in this role is required to provide compassionate and empathetic patient care. The candidate will assist in managing the front desk process from check in to check out.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer TMS treatments according to specific protocols. Set up the TMS medical device and monitor all aspects of the treatment sessions for patient comfort and treatment accuracy.

Provide excellent patient care and treat patients with compassion while developing trust and rapport. Provide support, reflective listening, and compassionate care to patients.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with patient comfort, coil contact, and TMS system setup throughout treatment.

Administer standardized questionnaires and counsel patients on completion of depression scales / PHQ9 Assessment.

Record session notes, track insurance authorizations, and schedule patient visits using the EMR.

Communicate effectively with other care team members, supervising physician, and referring providers.

Facilitate communication between physicians and patients regarding any concerns.

Coordinate and assist patients with insurance requirements such as prior authorizations to support treatment coverage and proper reimbursement for care.

Maintain TMS equipment, order supplies, ensure the proper maintenance and function of the equipment used, and contact appropriate vendors for repairs, when necessary.

Adhere to safety, HIPAA and compliance guidelines.

Assist team members with community outreach efforts.

Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent interpersonal skills including the capacity to work with patients who have behavioral and psychiatric concerns and communicate effectively with other professional and administrative staff.

Experience working with patients who are suffering from Anxiety and Depression is preferred. Ability to maintain professional appearance, demeanor, establish rapport and interact well with patients in a mental health setting is required.

Excellent organizational skill and attention to details.

Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Ability to quickly learn new skills, including use of advanced hardware and software for delivering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Current BLS or ACLS certification required.

Candidate must be self-directed and motivated with minimal direct supervision.

Ability to read, understand, and apply practice standards, technical procedures, and other standards and regulations.

Spoken and written English proficiency required.

Expected to develop and apply sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations.

Minimum education level: CMA, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Premedical students or those taking a gap year are encouraged to apply.
