Job Purpose:

Manage patient flow and room turnover to maintain OR schedule efficiency and minimize delays.

Delegate patient assignments based on acuity, staff competency, and workload considerations.

Mentor and support nursing staff, particularly those new to ambulatory orthopedic care.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and coordinate nursing activities in PreOp and PACU, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix for scheduled orthopedic case volumes.

Serve as the clinical resource and on-floor supervisor for RN, LPN, and patient care technician staff throughout the shift.

Ensure effective communication and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

Implement and monitor adherence to clinical protocols and standards to ensure high-quality care delivery.

Facilitate continuous quality improvement initiatives within the PreOp and PACU areas.

Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during shifts to maintain a harmonious work environment.

Support staff development through training and continuing education opportunities, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.

Required Education:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas, in good standing

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience

Experience in PreOp and/or PACU nursing

Preferred Experience:

At least 1 year in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting

Dual competency in both PreOp and PACU areas strongly preferred

Required Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated critical thinking and sound clinical judgment; ability to recognize and respond rapidly to intraoperative changes or emergencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, surgeons, anesthesia, vendor representatives, and staff

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency with electronic health record systems; experience with ASC-specific platforms (e.g., Amkai, Advantx, AdvancedMD, HST, EPIC) a plus
