About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel MedSurg Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care across diverse healthcare settings in Shiprock,. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including experience with medical-surgical nursing, critical care, and specialized procedures such as catheterization, IV infusion, and trauma medicine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in dynamic environments, delivering high-quality nursing services while adapting to various patient populations and healthcare protocols. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner, ensuring accurate documentation and seamless communication within multidisciplinary teams.
Duties
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic conditions across medical-surgical units, including telemetry, ICU, and emergency departments.
Perform detailed patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, dialysis management, and airway management.
Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas like ophthalmology, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and hospice & palliative medicine to coordinate patient treatment plans.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation, coding (ICD-10), and case management activities.
Provide education on medication administration, pain management strategies, nutrition, and discharge planning tailored to individual patient needs.
Engage in triage activities for urgent cases and participate in infection control practices to maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.
Requirements
Valid RN license with current registration in or the applicable state licensure board.
Extensive experience working in hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers; ICU or emergency room experience highly preferred.
Must have 1 recent year of Medsurg RN experience and 2 years experience as a RN
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10 coding is advantageous.
Strong clinical skills in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, tube feeding, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and aseptic techniques.
Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those requiring long-term or post-acute care.
Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine practices is a plus.
Ability to adapt quickly to different healthcare environments while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
