About This Position
Overview
Stepdown Nurses (RN) provide patient care in transitional units where patients are too sick for the med-surg floor but not sick enough for intensive care. Stepdown RNs job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Evaluate and monitor patient’s progress, identifying sudden or subtle changes in the patient’s medical condition
Calculate drug dosage, titrate medication doses, administer continuous medication infusion and monitor patients for effects of medication
Stepdown RNs work closely and collaborate with physicians and all other healthcare professionals
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a specialty care setting
Proficiency with Cerner EMR system (minimum of 2 years)
Ability to work 13-week assignments with a schedule of 36 hours per week (3x12 shifts)
Available shift: Days & Nights (7:00-7:00)
Availability to work every other weekend
Experience in Stepdown or Progressive Care units
Strong understanding of patient ratios: 1:5-1:6 for medical/surgical units and 1:4 for stepdown units
Flexibility to work in other units or facilities if the first choice is unavailable
Valid RN license in Alabama or eligible for licensure
Travel healthcare experience required
