About This Position

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide advanced patient care across diverse clinical settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency departments, and specialized intensive care units. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, demonstrate proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner, and have a strong background in managing complex medical cases. This position is designed for nurses committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while adapting to fast-paced environments and diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing services to patients with complex medical conditions, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, infectious diseases, and post-operative recovery.

Perform detailed patient assessments, monitor vital signs, interpret laboratory results, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.

Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, ventilator management, sedation protocols, and aseptic techniques.

Utilize advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, cardiac catheters, PICC lines, and dialysis machines to support patient needs.

Document all patient interactions thoroughly within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and specialists—to coordinate optimal patient care.

Respond promptly to emergencies using critical response procedures such as airway management and acute pain management protocols.

Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery at home or in long-term care settings.

Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization practices and adherence to OSHA guidelines.

Engage in ongoing professional development by staying current with developments in trauma medicine, infectious disease care, ICD coding updates (ICD-10/ICD-9), and other relevant clinical practices.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current state licensure; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred.

Minimum of two years of ICU or critical care experience in hospital settings; experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers highly desirable.

Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic and Cerner; familiarity with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is advantageous.

Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to critical care interventions, and medical terminology.

Experience managing complex cases involving trauma medicine, cardiac catheterization procedures, infectious disease management, dialysis support, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.

Ability to perform invasive procedures such as venipuncture, catheter care, suturing, tube feeding management, and specimen collection.

Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law as it pertains to occupational health cases is a plus.

Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across diverse healthcare teams and patient education.

Demonstrated commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and high standards of infection control.

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals committed to delivering exceptional critical care services. We value your expertise in managing complex cases across various clinical environments while providing compassionate support to our patients.
