About This Position
Overview
Telemetry RNs (Tele RNs) consult with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. The Tele RN utilizes machines that measure a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, as well as blood oxygen levels and electrocardiogram information. Tele RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Tele RNs prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications and report an adverse reaction to medications in accordance with policies
Prepare equipment and assist physician during examination and treatment of patient
Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify the appropriate medical team member
Monitor specialized equipment used on patients and interpret electronic displays
Requirements
Recent minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg (Medsurg) nursing experience
Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system
No restrictions related to block 13 or block 14
Strong clinical skills specific to MedSurg nursing
Ability to work effectively in a team setting and communicate clearly
Experience working on or familiarity with 4 West unit or department
Demonstrated adaptability to hospital protocols and workflows
Stable employment history within acute care or hospital settings
Current Alabama state nursing license
Previous experience in Level I Trauma Centers or similar high-acuity settings
Travel RN status (not residing near Birmingham)
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); additional certifications are a plus
