About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care in Oklahoma. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including PACU, ICU, or emergency medicine, and demonstrate proficiency with advanced medical procedures and electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, delivering specialized post-operative recovery services to diverse patient populations. The Travel PACU RN will be responsible for assessing patient needs, managing acute pain, and ensuring safe recovery following surgical procedures while adhering to hospital standards and protocols.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon arrival in the PACU, monitoring vital signs and physiological parameters to evaluate stability.
Administer medications, including analgesics and sedatives, ensuring precise dosage and adherence to prescribed protocols.
Utilize advanced skills such as IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, and ventilator management to support patient recovery.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and respiratory therapists—to develop individualized care plans.
Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Manage airway patency and perform airway management techniques during critical events or emergencies.
Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care instructions and recovery expectations.
Ensure infection control practices are rigorously followed, including aseptic technique during procedures like specimen collection or dressing changes.
Requirements
Minimum of 1 recent year of stepdown/PCU experience and 2 years' RN experience
Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or higher) from a board-approved program (preferred).
Transplant experience, specifically with kidney, liver, or pancreas transplants.
Acute care surgical floor experience.
Preceptor and charge nurse experience.
Knowledge of professional nursing practices and techniques.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
