About This Position

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional critical care services in Iowa. The ideal candidate will possess extensive ICU experience, demonstrating proficiency in managing complex patient needs within a fast-paced, acute care environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver specialized nursing care across diverse hospital settings, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The Travel ICU RN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive assessments, implementing evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patients with severe and life-threatening conditions.

Requirements

Valid RN license with ICU certification.

Must have at minimum of 1 recent year of ICU experience and 2 years of RN experience

Compliance with License/Certificate verification upon onboarding.

Ability to pass Trinity-specific health and security screenings

Prior experience working in an ICU environment.

Demonstrated ability to work night shifts (07:00 PM - 07:30 AM).

Willingness to adhere to travel requirements; this is a travel position.

Flexibility to work weekends, including every third weekend.

Availability for a 90-day assignment

Willingness to work guaranteed hours of at least 36 per week.

Provide advanced critical care nursing to patients in the Intensive Care Unit, including those requiring ventilator support, cardiac monitoring, and complex medication administration.

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physiological parameters, and diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory and imaging results.

Administer medications and treatments with precision, including IV infusions, sedation, and pain management protocols.

Monitor patients continuously for changes in condition, promptly responding to emergencies such as arrhythmias or respiratory distress.

Collaborate with physicians and specialists to develop and modify individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols.

Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Implement infection control procedures and aseptic techniques during patient care activities to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

Assist with procedures including intubation, suturing, catheterization, and specimen collection while adhering to sterile techniques.

Support discharge planning by coordinating post-acute care services such as hospice or long-term care facilities when appropriate.
