Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health LVN/LPN to provide nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and medically fragile or higher-acuity needs.
The LVN/LPN will provide medication administration, treatments, patient education, documentation, and direct nursing care while working closely with healthcare providers, peers, direct support professionals, and the individuals receiving care.
Shift & Schedule
Mids: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
5x8s
40 hours/week after orientation
Every other weekend required
Shifts may alternate to meet staffing needs
Candidates who do not want a rotating schedule are guaranteed 32 hours/week
Nurses must be flexible with scheduling based on facility staffing needs
Orientation & Training
5 weeks of orientation
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
No RTO during orientation
During training, candidates may receive 32 hours/week
After orientation, the standard schedule is 40 hours/week
Candidates can start any day of the week, provided there are at least 5 days to process pre-employment requirements
Facility and HHSC-required training must be completed
Patient Population
Individuals with intellectual disabilities
Medically fragile individuals
Higher-acuity patients requiring skilled nursing care
Skilled nursing cases
Nurses are assigned to units based on patient care needs and the nurse's skill set but may be required to float to other units.
Floating Requirements
Agency nurses are generally the first to float when coverage is needed.
Nurses will initially be oriented to multiple assignments before being placed on a unit based on the greatest staffing need.
Requirements
Required:
Active Texas LVN/LPN license
Minimum 2 years of experience as the licensed professional applying for the position
At least 1 year of facility-based experience caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities
Experience caring for medically fragile or higher-acuity patients
AHA BLS
Competency with advanced nursing skills, including:
Gastrostomy tubes/enteral feedings
Foley catheters
Tracheostomies
Other skilled nursing procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, DSPs, PCPs, and patients
Compliance with HHSC immunization requirements
Ability to complete required HHSC drug testing
Ability to complete required HHSC fingerprinting
Completion of all facility and HHSC-required training
COVID vaccination required

Pay Cycle: Sunday–Saturday
RTO: None preferred
Minimum Contract: 6 months
