Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Support patient care plans by providing comfort measures and ensuring a clean, safe environment aligned with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care in settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care environments.
Engage with patients experiencing cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s or dementia by implementing specialized memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
Assist in emergency situations using skills such as CPR or basic life support (BLS), especially in high-acuity environments like trauma centers or ICU units.
Qualifications
Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state or relevant licensing authority.
Experience working in diverse healthcare settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice, or home health is highly preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices essential for delivering safe patient care.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks) systems for accurate documentation and communication.
Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while lifting or repositioning patients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with individuals of all ages—including pediatrics—and those with disabilities or complex medical conditions.
Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous.
