About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional maternal care across various healthcare settings in,. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive nursing expertise, including labor and delivery procedures, patient assessment, and emergency response capabilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality care in diverse environments, ensuring positive outcomes for mothers and newborns. The Travel RN will be responsible for adapting to different clinical settings while maintaining adherence to safety standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care, including monitoring fetal and maternal vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and managing labor progression.
Administer medications, including pain management and anesthesia support, following prescribed protocols.
Assist with neonatal resuscitation procedures and neonatal assessments immediately postpartum.
Utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems to document patient care accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for mothers and infants.
Monitor for complications such as postpartum hemorrhage or fetal distress, responding swiftly with appropriate interventions.
Educate patients on childbirth processes, postpartum care, breastfeeding techniques, and newborn care best practices.
Requirememts
Must have at least 1 recent year in Labor & Delivery and 2 years of RN experience
Valid Kansas RN licensure or a compact RN license
Must have availability to work every third weekend (Fri-Sun)
Proven experience as a Labor & Delivery RN with demonstrated proficiency in obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
Strong background in utilizing EMR systems such as Cerner or Epic for documentation and patient tracking.
Experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospitals with Level I or Level II trauma center designations is preferred.
Knowledge of advanced nursing skills such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, and aseptic technique is essential.
Familiarity with medical terminology related to obstetrics, neonatology, and critical care nursing practices.
Prior experience in travel nursing roles across different healthcare settings is highly desirable.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
