About This Position
Trustaff is seeking experienced Stepdown Registered Nurses (Stepdown RNs) for high-paying 13-week travel nursing assignments nationwide. Earn up to $3,049 per week while providing specialized care to patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing support in leading hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country.
As a Travel Stepdown RN, you'll care for patients who need a higher level of observation and intervention than a medical-surgical unit but do not require intensive care unit (ICU) treatment. You'll monitor patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, recognize changes in clinical status, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support safe recovery and positive patient outcomes.

About the Role
As a Stepdown Registered Nurse, you'll monitor and care for patients who require frequent assessments and close observation but are stable enough to transition from critical care settings. Patients commonly require advanced monitoring, cardiac observation, medication management, and specialized nursing interventions designed to support recovery and prevent complications.
This fast-paced role requires exceptional clinical judgment, strong assessment skills, and the ability to identify subtle changes in patient condition before they become emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to stepdown, progressive care, and intermediate care patients
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing evaluations
Monitor vital signs, telemetry readings, oxygenation status, and overall patient condition
Recognize and respond to changes in patient status
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as ordered
Manage patients transitioning from ICU or other higher-acuity settings
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Develop and implement patient-centered care plans
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and recovery goals
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance
Support discharge planning and continuity of care initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Minimum of 2 years of recent Stepdown, PCU, Telemetry, or Critical Care experience
Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced hospital environments
