Responsibilities
Assist emergency physicians and nurses with patient assessments, ensuring accurate collection of vital signs and patient history.
Perform clinical procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, suturing, and specimen collection with precision and aseptic technique.
Monitor cardiac rhythms using EKG and cardiac event monitoring equipment; analyze and report abnormalities promptly.
Support patient care activities including mobility assistance, vital signs measurement, pulse oximetry, and basic life support (BLS) procedures like CPR.
Operate medical equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper functioning during procedures and emergencies.
Maintain accurate documentation within clinical information systems, recording all patient interactions and procedures clearly and thoroughly.
Assist with heavy lifting and positioning of patients to ensure comfort and safety during treatment or transport.
Qualifications
Proven experience working in an emergency room setting or acute care environment is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and specimen labeling.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and hospital medicine practices.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications such as ACLS are a plus.
Familiarity with medical equipment operation including EKG machines, cardiac monitors, and other emergency tools.
Ability to perform venipuncture and IV insertion accurately while maintaining aseptic technique.
Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods; excellent attention to detail in documentation.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure situations.
