Assistant Professor/Associate Professor

Our research priorities are improvement of health outcomes, promoting health for rural and underserved populations, and transforming nursing and interprofessional health education. The College of Nursing is especially interested in candidates who have significant potential for building an extramurally funded program of research. This position will be located in Brookings, South Dakota, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, or Rapid City, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faculty members plan, implement, and evaluate assigned courses either as an individual assignment or as a member of a teaching team.

SALARY RANGE:

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience; Assistant Professor minimum salary starts at $97,000.

Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, completed by application date;

Graduate Degree in Nursing, completed by application date;

A Ph.D. in nursing or related field, completed by start date;

Potential for (Assistant Professor) or demonstrated record (Associate Professor) of excellence in teaching;

Potential for (Assistant Professor) or demonstrated record (Associate Professor) of excellence in research/scholarship;

Licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse as evidenced by current licensure in another state;

Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;

Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels;

A history of successfully funded research and relevant clinical practice;

Active program of research and dissemination;

Experience with simulation technology and distance delivery;

Demonstrated potential or ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams;

Evidence of service to the nursing profession.
