Job Overview
Family Hospital Systems is seeking a dedicated RN Supervisor to lead and coordinate nursing care at our Millard location, a free-standing ambulatory hospital with an inpatient detoxification unit. In this role you will oversee day-to-day patient care delivery, supervise nursing staff, ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and support our Redstone substance-use and alcohol recovery program. This is an opportunity to shape care delivery through hands-on leadership, clinical expertise, and operational management in a close-knit setting.
Duties
Supervise nursing staff to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care aligned with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate daily staffing schedules, assign duties, and monitor team performance to maintain appropriate staffing levels and patient-to-nurse ratios.
Provide supervisory oversight for nursing care across the emergency room and inpatient detox nursing unit, including patient triage support, clinical escalation, withdrawal monitoring and management using standardized assessment tools (e.g., CIWA-Ar and COWS), medication administration, and behavioral-health-informed care.
Ensure adherence to infection control, aseptic technique, and medication safety standards across all clinical activities.
Oversee nursing procedures such as IV infusion, medication administration, specimen collection, and patient assessments, including vital signs and physical examinations.
Manage clinical documentation in the ePower documentation system; ensure accuracy of medical records and compliance with HIPAA.
Support patient intake, admission, and discharge planning to promote safe transitions and efficient patient flow.
Provide training, mentorship, and supervision for nursing staff; foster professional development in areas relevant to detox and behavioral health.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and Nebraska DHHS requirements.
Experience
Four years of nursing experience in a hospital or acute setting (behavioral health or substance-use experience a plus).
At least two years experience in a critical care setting, such as a hospital ED or ICU.
Two years of nursing leadership or charge/supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses / Certifications
Current Nebraska RN license, or a multistate (compact) RN license valid in Nebraska.
BLS and ACLS required. PALS certification preferred
Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
