JOB SUMMARY

The LVN Team Leader provides direct clinical and patient care support for Maren Medical Group while serving as the day-to-day clinical resource for Licensed Vocational Nurses and other assigned clinical support staff in a primary care/family and internal medicine practice. Working under the direction of physicians and clinic leadership and within the scope of California LVN licensure, the Team Leader supports patient care, coordinates daily clinical workflow, promotes consistent nursing practices, assists with staff training and onboarding, and helps ensure efficient, high-quality, compassionate clinic operations. Requirements:

MINIMUM & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training

Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited vocational nursing program. Preferred: Additional coursework or training in primary care, chronic disease management, ambulatory care, population health, care coordination, leadership, or supervision.

Experience

Minimum: At least two years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a physician practice, ambulatory care clinic, community health center, urgent care, or comparable outpatient healthcare setting. Experience administering medications, injections, immunizations, performing clinical nursing procedures within LVN scope of practice, and documenting patient care using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Demonstrated experience serving as a resource to coworkers, coordinating workflow, training staff, or performing lead responsibilities. Preferred: Three or more years of outpatient primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine experience, including prior lead, charge, preceptor, or team coordination experience. Experience supporting multiple providers in a high-volume medical practice and caring for Medicare, Medi-Cal, and managed care patient populations. Experience performing telephone triage within LVN scope of practice. Certification(s) Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of outpatient nursing principles, medication administration, immunizations, infection prevention, OSHA standards, HIPAA, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to perform clinical nursing duties within the LVN scope of practice, including patient assessments, vital signs, specimen collection, medication administration, and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate daily clinical workflow, prioritize assignments, support staffing coverage, and identify and escalate operational or patient care concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to train, coach, and provide functional guidance to clinical staff while maintaining positive, collaborative working relationships.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Microsoft Office applications, and standard healthcare technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to educate patients, collaborate effectively with providers and interdisciplinary teams, and communicate expectations clearly and professionally.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, model accountability and professionalism, and escalate employee or clinical concerns through appropriate leadership channels.

The employee must be able to maintain concentration, exercise sound clinical judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, coordinate daily clinical workflow, and communicate effectively with patients, providers, staff, and leadership in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment. Work requires frequent use of computers, electronic medical records (EMR), telephones, and standard medical equipment. The position involves regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other healthcare-related hazards, requiring adherence to OSHA standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA requirements, and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled outpatient medical office and may require occasional overtime or schedule adjustments to meet operational and patient care needs.

    Salary Range

    $36.00 - $41.00 / hourly
