About This Position
Overview
Telemetry RNs (Tele RNs) consult with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. The Tele RN utilizes machines that measure a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, as well as blood oxygen levels and electrocardiogram information. Tele RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Tele RNs prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications and report an adverse reaction to medications in accordance with policies
Prepare equipment and assist physician during examination and treatment of patient
Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify the appropriate medical team member
Monitor specialized equipment used on patients and interpret electronic displays
Requirements
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 1 recent year experience in Tele and 2 years of experience as a RN
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
Ability to apply nursing techniques effectively.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
Some computer skills.
Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited program.
The position is for a med/surg unit, not accepting OR candidates.
The role involves working either standard med/surg or stepdown patients depending on staffing needs, particularly with float staffing involving ICU nurses.
Transplant experience (Preferred)
Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (Preferred)
Preceptor and charge nurse experience (Preferred)
ENT and/or Transplant experience (Preferred)
