About This Position
Overview
Labor and Delivery RNs (L&D RNs) are responsible for monitoring patients throughout labor and serve as the primary point of contact for family members. L&D RNs monitor the baby’s heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. L&D RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines
Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages
Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered
Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of current labor and delivery experience and 2 years RN experience
Experience with patient ratios of 1:2 in labor and delivery.
Experience in charting system (Cerner preferred but not mandatory unless specified).
Travel experience required.
Facility births per month: less than 100, 100-200, or 200-300.
Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery (LDRP) experience and 2 years of RN experience
TN/compact licensure or equivalent, in hand at the time of submission.
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) (can be obtained after offer)
Martin, TN
Experience specifically in high-volume facilities (200-300 births/month).
Prior experience with Cerner charting system (preferred but not mandatory).
Familiarity with ACLS, AWHONN, NRP certifications.
Experience assisting with high-risk labor/delivery and complex procedures.
Experience with neonatal resuscitation, NICU/Level I Nursery.
Experience circulating for C-sections and managing obstetric emergencies.
Ability to manage multiple procedures such as amnioinfusion, epidural, and sterile speculum exams.
Strong skills in postpartum and neonatal assessment and management.
Experience working in environments requiring pregnancy-induced hypertension management and hemorrhage control.
Knowledge of and compliance with joint commission policies and floating procedures.
Experience with internal fetal monitoring and use of infusion pumps.
Knowledge of and ability to educate on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and car seat safety.
